Howard Brown is committed to improving the health of the transgender community. We offer several programs that center around issues that the transgender community faces, and our medical, behavioral health, and case management staff sensitive to the special needs of our transgender clients.

TYRA: Transgender Youth Resource and Advocacy Group

TYRA is a support group for transgender and questioning youth, 24 and under, to meet people, get informed, and be supported by their peers. It’s held every Wednesday at the Broadway Youth Center, 3179 N. Broadway (near Broadway and Belmont) from 6 pm to 8 pm. Transgender Youth Research Project

Howard Brown conducts research studies that focus on improving the lives of transgender youth. If you identify as transgender, and are between the ages of 14 and 24, you may qualify for the Transgender Youth Research Project. GenderWork

GenderWork is Chicago's social, support, and activist group for FTM (female-assigned, masculine-identified) individuals. For further information, please visit http://genderworkchicago.org.

T-Time Transgender & Intersex Support Group

Meets every 1st and 3rd Monday of month 6:30-8:30 pm at Howard Brown Health Center. An open group for FTM, MTF and Intersex individuals as well as those questioning their gender. For more information contact: Lois Bates 773-388-8926 or loisb@howardbrown.org

Education

We coordinate presentations and school-based programming focusing on issues in transgender health, providing both formal and informal seminars at women’s shelters, high schools, health fairs, women’s correctional facilities, community-based organizations, and to other medical providers. If you’d like to work with us to design and develop training or educational seminars for your organization, please submit your request via email.
