Prevention, Counseling, and Testing

Our team of health educators, community health nurses, and volunteers perform outreach at various venues throughout the Chicagoland area, including venues on the south, west, and north sides, as well as in suburban Cook County. With specific focus on HIV and STD prevention, education, and testing, Howard Brown’s outreach teams provide services to more than 10,000 clients every year.

Howard Brown’s health educators provide services at various bars, bathhouses, community groups, as well as to health fairs, women in shelters, support groups, and via the internet. Our outreach services include HIV education; HIV counseling and testing services; hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccinations; screening for STDs including gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis; and woman-centered health education and assessments, including osteoporosis screenings, breast health education, and menopause discussion groups.

Education

We coordinate presentations and school-based programming focusing on issues in men’s, women’s, and transgender health, providing both formal and informal seminars at women’s shelters, high schools, health fairs, women’s correctional facilities, community-based organizations, and to other medical providers. If you’d like to work with us to design and develop training or educational seminars for your organization, please submit your request via  email.
