DonationsDrop-off donations are accepted at any Brown Elephant location, from 10:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m., every day, or until 7:00 p.m. M-F at the Lakeview (Halsted St.) location. For a listing of our locations, click here. Pickups of larger donations, such as furniture, may be scheduled by calling our pickup line at (773) 549-5943, or by clicking here. Pickups are made between the hours of 10am - 4pm (Wed-Sun), and 7am-4pm (Mon-Tues). Due to the rising cost of fuel, our suggested minimum donation for pickup service is five bags/boxes. Also, our movers reserve the right to make the final decision on all donations, and can not accept items that are damaged or soiled beyond repair.
Items We Can No Longer AcceptAll donations are deeply appreciated. However, due to the high costs of handling, fuel and scavenger services we are no longer accepting the following items: Construction Materials: Electronics: Computer monitors (other than flat screen) Computers (older than Pentium 2) Dot matrix or bubble jet printers Television sets (older than 5 years)
Furniture & Large Appliances: Built-in furniture (cabinets/cupboards) Dishwashers, Stoves, Refrigerators File cabinets Hospital beds Mattresses or box springs Pianos with cracked soundboards or broken keys Platform, bunk or water beds Upholstered pieces with tears, stains or foul odors
Household Items: Air purifiers or humidifiers Children’s car seats, bathtubs, cribs, toys, strollers Chipped or damaged dishes or glassware Curtain rods, blind (unless new, in package) Fire extinguishers Food
